Travel the world through story — a vibrant, interactive celebration of multilingual tales brought to life through rhythm, movement and voice.

Join Rohini Vij, Leticia, Priti Modyiyer and Dee Palanisamy as they share fun, engaging tales filled with rhythm and movement. The folktales told in Hindi, Tamil and Portuguese come to life through the voices of four vibrant oral storytellers from Naarm/Melbourne. 

Journey across cultures and traditions as stories of clever characters, brave heroes and playful adventures unfold. This interactive session invites audiences of all ages to listen, move, and celebrate storytelling traditions from around the world. 

Suitable for all ages.  
Tickets: $7 per child; adults free. 
Session followed by a free craft activity


 

Storytellers

Dee Palanisamy

Dee Palanisamy (Durgah Devi) is a multicultural storyteller based in Melbourne. She weaves her Singaporean-Tamil background in telling Asian folktales and stories to audiences around the world. 

Dee loves ALL things stories and founded Deelightfultales, where she uses stories for performances, training, education and personal development. She has been a Speech and Drama educator for more than 12 years in Singapore, and her repertoire includes stories for children, adults and mature audiences. 

Dee currently works with the Newport Storytellers (Victoria) and is the secretary of the Australian Storytelling Guild, NSW.


 

Priti Modyiyer

Priti Modyiyer is an enthusiastic, engaging storyteller who tells stories in libraries, schools and at Storytelling festivals, both online and in person.

In addition to being a performance storyteller, Priti is a Leadership and Empowerment Coach and extensively uses stories in her corporate workshops and keynotes.

Priti believes that besides the joy and healing that stories create, they have the wonderful side-effect of inspiring change.  


 

Rohini Vij

Rohini Vij is a Melbournebased storyteller, children’s author, educator and voice artist. She is the founder of NutSpace, an education initiative that builds life skills and literacy in children through storytelling.

With more than fifteen years’ experience across education and performance, Rohini works with schools, libraries and cultural organisations to deliver multilingual storytelling sessions in English and Hindi.

She is also an accomplished audiobook narrator, recording titles for major publishers including Random House and Puffin.  


 

Leticia

Originally from Brazil, Leticia is a passionate bilingual storyteller who brings stories to life in English and Portuguese. A mother of two young children and a language professional, she loves sharing her heritage through engaging tales, songs and playful interaction. For the past three years, she has been running a much-loved Portuguese Storytime program in Melbourne, connecting families through language and culture.

Leticia is passionate about celebrating the fun exchange of languages and inspiring children to feel proud of their multicultural identities.
