At 95 Liz Hicklin isn't slowing down — she's speeding up the laughter.
A poet, humourist, storyteller and author with razor sharp wit, Liz takes audiences on a hilarious and heartfelt ride through nine and a half decades of life, love and human absurdity.
With wit, candour and disarming honesty, Liz explores what it means to live a long life — the grief and joy, the reinvention and reckoning, the humour that sustains us, and the wisdom that only time can shape.
Spoiler alert: Liz reveals her secrets for longevity and a fulfilling life and she proves that life doesn’t begin at 30 — it gets funnier at 90!
95 and Still Alive is a rare and powerful theatrical experience — one woman, nine and a half decades, and a lifetime of insight delivered with warmth, intelligence and irrepressible spirit.
Liz Hicklin launched her comedy career at 92 at the St Kilda Tap House and has since performed at The Wicker Club and the Flinders Fringe Festival with her show Are We Dead Yet? alongside Alan Pentland.
A winner of the poetry slam at the Clunes Booktown Festival, Liz has appeared on ABC Radio Melbourne and toured her show Love Letters to a Laureate, exploring her 1950s relationship with poet Ted Hughes.
Liz’s life hasn’t just been funny — it’s been deeply lived. She endured the heartbreaking loss of her two daughters, who died seven years apart in their forties, an experience that shaped her resilience and fierce determination to keep living fully. From grief, Liz found purpose and now challenges audiences to rethink what ageing really looks like.
Liz Hicklin is living proof that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself, start a comedy career, win a poetry slam, travel the world — or set new goals. Her current ambition? A guest spot on The Graham Norton Show.
