Glen Eira Storytelling Festival opening night

Join us for the opening of the Glen Eira Storytelling Festival with Yorta-Yorta singer songwriter, Benny Walker.

The Festival opens with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony delivered by the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation. 

Following the ceremony, acclaimed Yorta Yorta singer-songwriter Benny Walker will take the stage, sharing his soulful blend of storytelling and song. 

We invite you to rug up by the heaters and settle in for a night of stories, music and community.

Benny Walker

Benny's debut album Sinners and Saints sling-shot him into the limelight landing him 4 NIMA nominations in 2013. In 2016 he gained another 4 NIMA nominationss for New Talent of the Year, Best Song, Best Cover art and Best film clip for 'Oh No You Don’t.' 

This song heralded in a new direction in sound and shot to No.1 on the AMRAP chart. Benny was awarded Victorian Indigenous Performing Arts Award for Best New Talent in 2012 was crowned “2016 Best Aboriginal Act of the Year” at The Age Music Victoria Awards. 

Double J selected CHOSEN LINE in the 2020 "Best albums of 2020 charts" and almost a year later in August 2021 CHOSEN LINE received a NIMA nomination for "Best Album 2021".
